Bermuda Billfish Release Cup

Bermuda Billfish Release Cup is an offshore fishing event held in the island every year. It's an open big game tournament designed for great fun for anglers with their families.

There are optional categories for those wanting to compete for additional cash prizes.

The tournament takes place from the Dockyard area and has a relaxed format. It has cash and other prizes.

Team Tournament Entry is $1,000 per team and includes entry and a total of six passes to the kickoff and awards parties. Additional entry categories and non-angler party passes are also available.

Inaugural Bermuda Billfish Release Cup

2009 was the inaugural or the first event of Bermuda Billfish Release Cup. Here is how the opening and closing of 2009 Release Cup were held in Bermuda:

There was a strong breeze and continuous rain for the past week. However, finally the weather settled and the Release Cup kick-off party started as scheduled on 26th June.

All had a great time at the Bonefish Bar & Grill located at Kings Wharf Dockyard Bermuda in Sandys Parish at the west end. There were 13 teams competing for total of $65,000 cash and other prizes. The teams received apparel and captains bags from Old Harbor Outfitters. They also received great food from Bonefish Bar & Grill. Pier 41 of Kings Wharf served as the host marina for this event.

On the final day, the awards banquet was held at Bonefish Bar & Grill. All had a great taste of beef brisket, ribs, pork roast and many other gourmet dishes.

Waste Knot received the top team award, three daily billfish release jackpots and first-place overall release jackpot, winning $42,800 for the team, and an invitation to compete in the IGFA Offshore World Championship.

Bree was in second place and won a daily release jackpot and second-place overall release jackpot, earning the team $14,250.

Never Enough got the third-place team and third-place overall release jackpot, winning $4,450.
