Bermuda hotels for kids and families

What to look for

Several luxury and mid range resorts offer children's programs including games room and both indoor and outdoor activities. That can keep your kids busy while you can plan to relax on a beach. Another important aspect is the kids menu. Several hotels (particularly the Fairmont group of hotels have nice kids and health menu which they can even customize).

If you are looking to self cook, then nearby amenities including grocery stores would be an important consideration. And of course you would ideally like to stay close to a beach.

Located in Southampton Parish and overlooking the ocean, this five star hotel provides some of the best amenities and activities for families and children. For accommodation, you can ask for connection rooms while booking or even cribs for your babies. The main resort pool has an attendant during the day time. You can get pool noodles to swim.

Right next to the resort pool is the children's pool which has splash pool and slides. There is also a Jacuzzi next to the main pool which families can use. If available, families are given a beach bucket and a spade on arrival so that kids can enjoy on the sand. The Fairmont group of hotels specialize in health cuisine (known as Lifestyle Cuisine) and the same applies to children's menu as well. Kids below 5 eat free, and between 6-11 at half the menu price. Kids menu is quite extensive and some favorites include chicken strips, pizza, spaghetti with meatballs, chocolate mousse etc.

A luxury resort located in Paget parish has its own beautiful private beach. The hotel operates a Kids Camp (like a kids club). The camp is generally open only during the high season (June to September) and has a limited capacity. When we stayed here last time, they used to accommodate up to 12 kids in the club on a first come first served basis.

The Kids Club facilities here includes TVs, DVDs, Play Stations, board games and such. I would recommend that you notify them in advance at the time of booking if you like your kids to avail the club facilities. They also make special gift packages for your kids on arrival. The Kids Club charges on an hourly basis. You can also give permission to the club supervisors to order food for your kids on your behalf. The restaurants prepare special meals for children.

Elbow Beach Hotel also offers many other activities of interest to the children. Here are some of them:
  • Horseback riding with experienced guide. Excellent scenic trails along south shore with great views of the ocean.

  • Olympic sized climate controlled pool.
  • Lots of water sport activities are offered by an in-house operator having its kiosk at the beach. Activities include snorkeling (with gear rentals), kayaking, paddleboards, diving and more.

We found The Reefs and Pink Beach to be terrific with kids. Our 1 year old took her first step at The Reefs. Pink Beach has a small playground---which should be improved. But both staffs were terrific with the kids.
