Saltus Grammar School, Bermuda

 
This is one of the top three schools in Bermuda located in Hamilton. It started as a Boys School in 1888, but since 1992, it has been converted into a co-educational school. Saltus is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) in North America and is an accredited member of CESI (The Canadian Educational Standards Institute). 
 
Saltus Grammar has two campuses: The first one is for the Lower Primary for ages 5–7, Grade 1 & 2. The second one is for the Upper Primary (Grade 3, 4, 5 & 6), the Secondary Department (Grade 7 to 11) and the Graduate Years (Grade 12 & 13). 
 
 
 
The school accommodates over 1000 students. Student to teacher ratio is around 11:1 in each grade. Over 70% teachers are Bermudians. While majority are Bermudian students, there are many expatriate children as well. Approximately 75% are Bermudian students and 25% from the international community. The international community mainly comprises of expatriates working in international finance, insurance, trust management and tourism industry. 
 
There are many extra-curricular activities offered by Saltus. The school has an extensive Physical Education program, an on-site swimming pool and a large gymnasium. Soccer and hockey are quite popular as well. There are computers and high speed internet available for use by the students. 
 
 
 
The school has well established musical activities including a Secondary Wind Band and the Saltus Jazz Band. The annual fee of Saltus is about $22,000. While there are scholarships and aids available, it is generally applicable only for Bermudian students.
