Bermudian Escape Charters

Update: Captain Lawrence Trimingham has retired after 8 years of operation and the business has closed down in 2018.

This is a sleek and beautiful  65-ft MacGregor65 sailing boat which can be chartered for half day, full day or even several days of sailing adventures in Bermuda waters.

The boat was built in 1989 and has been maintained very well by captain Lawrence Trimingham. With its narrow hull, the boat is very stable while anchored or on move.

It can accommodate up to 20 passengers for in-shore sailing and 12 passengers for offshore open sea sailing.

It has nice deck area and lots of shades under the canopies and screens. Other features include two washrooms, on-deck shower, swimming platform, kayak for exploring the waterways, etc.

It also has a 10-ft inflatable motorized RIB boat for excursions or reaching out to island beaches, complimentary snorkeling gears, large galley with a fridge which allows for catering setup etc. The boat can sleep up to 6 persons.

They are located at the eastern side of Bermuda and close to Grotto Bay Beach Resort and Rosewood Tucker's Point Resort and Spa. This is one boat which lets you enjoy the beautiful calm waters of the Castle Harbor and then a sail out into the open sea. While you can always customize your charter sails, a typical half day charter includes:

1) Start from the Castle Harbor and view the UNESCO World Heritage sites around the harbor that includes forts of 17th century like the King's Castle on Castle Island. Other such sites includes the Charles Island, Nonsuch Island, Southampton Fort and more.

Captain Lawrence has a lot of knowledge about the history of Bermuda. So if you are interested, he'll be more than happy to narrate many stories that are associated with the landmarks you will be passing by.

2) Shortly after that you will experience the thrill of ocean sailing for a while. From Castle Harbor it takes only few minutes to reach out to the open ocean.

3) Back into Castle Harbor, the boat will anchor close to Castle Island and below the King's Castle - a picturesque spot. This is probably one of the most beautiful shallow water area in Bermuda for swimming with soft sandy bottom with no rocks.

If you like, they will take you to a reef area for snorkeling where you can see beautiful corals and lot many fish and marine life.

4) On request, they also organize on-board BBQ lunch. The entire trip would last from 3 to 4 hours. You can sail in the morning or in the afternoon.

Indicative Rates

3-hours charter rate is $500 and 4-hour $650 (up to 8 persons, and $35 for each additional person). For extra hours of sailing: $125 per hour. The boat has a capacity of 12 persons if you plan for ocean sailing, otherwise 20 for in-shore sailing.

The rates include complimentary soft drinks, beer and water. You can also charter the boat for cocktail or sunset cruise.
