Bare Foot Charter Boat, Bermuda
What To Expect
This private charter is a complete made to order tour of the Bermudian waters and its many hidden excitements. The boat "Happy Dance" is a 26 feet catamaran and is immaculate, clean, smooth and quite roomy. It is perfect for families with children with great layout for the little guests and good bimini shade. It has comfortable lounge seating, a clean restroom, fresh water shower and easy access to the water.
The crew is extremely accommodating and patient especially as we had a party of eight ranging from those in their thirties to eighties. The captain is a licensed local who knows the sea and the tides like the back of her hand. The kids simply hung around with Captain Virginia "Vee" McKey and her deckhand dog Benny, who is great entertainment, and seemed to have a delightful time.

Benny is indeed an added bonus who plays with the guests and sometimes even swims with them. They take much care of your comfort and safety. Captain Vee is a wealth of information and you also get to learn a lot of interesting facts about the history of the island (a completely different side of it!), its wildlife, population. some of the local families and also the ecosystem. She even shared with us names of some great restaurants to visit and interesting things to do.
They know where to find the maximum turtles and where the fish gather to seek food and steer you to the best snorkeling spots. We had the time of our lives when they took us to Ely's Harbor where the ocean was calm and shallow which made it easy to swim and splash and also explore the area, do some magnificent sightseeing and swim with the green sea turtles. They also take you to some of the most beautiful shipwreck areas where you can swim, snorkel and enjoy the sight of the umpteen fishes and even feed them. We were taken to numerous snorkeling spots that were isolated and private and simply fantastic. The gears they provide too are some of the best.
The Private Tours
They can even customize your trip as per your preferences and include all the things that you would like to do. The communication is kept prompt, precise and friendly, listening to your requests and quickly establishing the perfect itinerary for your entire family incorporating anything you'd like to do.
If the weather cooperates, you can make several stops, whether to simply relax on the beach, as we did at
Castle Harbor having moored our boat there for a while. You can also cruise in the calm waters, go under the smallest drawbridge in the world (
Somerset Bridge), tour the various islands offshore or even head to diving board island which is a great stop for those who like to cliff jump. Captain Vee even explained to us where to jump and where not to at
Admiralty House Park. She takes you to all the places you could never be able to experience from the land. Even if the weather is windy, they take you to several coves where the water is smooth and you can have just as good a time.
She can book tours for two to ten guests at a time, which could be a maximum of eight adults or a few adults and some children for a total of ten. You can bring your own beverages and snacks. They provide a large cooler of ice. They accept credit cards and charge your card after the charter. You can make reservations with your Visa or Master card. Ensure you get towels and wear your swimsuits underneath your clothes.
If you are cruising to Bermuda, they will pick you up near your cruise ship at Dockyard, give you a customized tour and then drop you off at Hamilton where you can do some shopping and have lunch and then take a ferry back. Make sure to reach out to Captain Vee early on in your planning as she books up quickly.
The welcoming and friendly approach of the host of this very personalized boat trip is what actually sets it apart from the rest. You end up with a beautifully custom tailored day within your time that you spend sightseeing, snorkeling near the corals, swimming with the turtles and enjoying the beauty of the island as it should be done, all in the wonderful company of the captain and crew of the boat whose knowledge of Bermuda is encyclopedic and who are undoubtedly the best unofficial ambassadors of the country. Go to some of the most unique quiet spots with them.
We spent the perfect four hours in the absolutely gorgeous azure water and our day was made truly special in the company of these amazing guides who created an unforgettable experience for us giving us the opportunity to see the island from the water and in what a unique way !
