Is Greenbank Right for You?

This property is not trying to be a luxury resort, and that is exactly its appeal. You need to know what you are signing up for before you put down a deposit.

Who it is for: Independent travelers, couples, budget-conscious visitors, and history buffs looking for quiet charm. It is perfect if you like making your own plans.

Who should skip: Travelers expecting a resort-style pool, a sandy beach on the property, or 24-hour room service.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Do not show up expecting a sprawling sandy beach outside your door. You are on the harbor side. The famous pink sands of the South Shore beaches are a 10-minute taxi or micro-car ride away.

Pay close attention to the Pink Route ferry schedule. The boats stop running fairly early in the evening. If you stay late in town for dinner, you will need to catch a taxi back to Paget.

Finally, do not ignore your kitchenette. Buying groceries in town and cooking a few meals will save you hundreds of dollars on your food budget.

The Rooms, Cottages, and Apartments

Greenbank offers a mix of accommodations scattered across its waterfront lawns. The main house holds the historic double rooms, which carry that distinct old-world Bermuda feel with antique furnishings and slightly creaky wooden floors.

If you want more independence, book one of the detached cottages or apartments. These come with private entrances and kitchenettes. Waking up, making your own coffee, and stepping out to look over the harbor is a massive perk.

What Surprises Visitors the Most

The location is the real draw here. You are a two-minute walk from the Salt Kettle Ferry Dock. This means you can skip the expensive taxis and take a scenic ten-minute boat ride straight into downtown Hamilton.

Ferry Facts: The Salt Kettle Ferry Dock is a 2-minute (0.1 mile) flat walk from the property. The cash fare is typically $3.50, or you can use a prepaid transportation pass.

While the ferry gives you easy access to the rest of the island, you do not even have to leave the property to get your feet wet. Another major surprise is the private deep-water swimming dock.

There is no sandy beach on the property, but you can climb down the ladder right into the clear harbor waters. It is incredibly refreshing for an early morning dip. Just watch your step on the lower rungs, as they can get slippery with algae.

Pro-Tip: Bring a pair of water shoes. The rocks around the dock can be sharp, and water shoes make getting in and out much easier.

Practical Details for Your Stay

To help you plan your daily logistics, here is what you need to know about the on-site amenities:

Breakfast Delivery: A tray is left outside your door in a basket each morning. It usually includes fresh muffins, fruit, juice, and coffee or tea. It is a simple but charming way to start the day.

Transportation: The property has dedicated charging stations for electric micro-cars like the Twizy and Yoyo. You will want to reserve your rental vehicle well in advance during the summer months.

Connectivity: Wi-Fi is reliable in the main areas. Keep in mind that the thick historic walls can make the signal spotty in some corner rooms.

Arrival: To get here from the airport, a pre-arranged taxi takes about 35 minutes.

Location: 17 Salt Kettle Road, Paget, Bermuda. The Salt Kettle ferry stop is only a short walk from here. Hamilton downtown is only 10 minutes by ferry.
