Bermuda Post Offices

While the main or the General post office in Bermuda is located on Church Street at Hamilton City, there are several other post offices scattered in the different parishes. However, the Perot's Post Office which is located on Queen Street of Hamilton City is of special interest to tourists. This is where Bermuda's first Postmaster General William B. Perot worked and hand delivered the mails.

Bermuda's centralized mail processing center is located at St. George on Kindley Field road. This is where all the mails are processed for island wide distribution, unless a mail is dropped at a sub post office for delivery at the same location. The location of the Bermuda's Mail Processing Center is also ideal for airmails because of its close proximity to the airport and customs.

There are three key areas of focus in Bermuda's post office operations - Mail Processing, Delivery and Quality Assurance. The post offices cater to various mailing requirements including letters, post cards and parcel shipments. All out-of-country deliveries take place by airmail. Although there is a provision for surface mail, that too is actually shipped by airmail with a delay. Check out Bermuda Post Cards to know about how post cards evolved in the island.

Bermuda Philatelic Bureau every year makes a collection of commemorative stamps and arranges them in an attractive pack. This is an effort on part of the post offices to showcase Bermuda's heritage, culture and history. With a minimum deposit amount of $30, they even serve standing orders for current issues of commemorative stamps. They will also notify you over email about the latest stamp releases.

You will also get bus/ferry passes and tickets at the post offices in Bermuda.

Update July 2013: As part of the Bermuda's folk life series, the Bermuda Post Offices have released stamps featuring Gombeys which has been a Bermudian folk tradition. The stamps reflect colorful costumes and movements of the Gombey dances. There are some 700 to 800 stamp collectors from all over the world who keenly follow the latest stamp releases in Bermuda.

Update May 2014: Three sub post offices are scheduled to close down from November 1st, 2014 - They are St David's, Harrington Sound and Somerset Bridge. While the home delivery of mails will continue in these areas, the tourists will no longer be able to get bus/ferry ticket-booklets from these post offices. They have been closed down because of overheads and being unable to make best use of other forms of technology and communications.

Update July 2017: Effective July 4, 2017, all post offices (except the General Post Office and Perrot Post Office in Hamilton) would work in reduced hours from 8am to 4pm instead of 8am to 5pm.

I plan to buy some Post cards on board the ship and on land at Docking. How can I get 6 stamps for the USA and 6 for Germany ahead of time, so I can mail them from King's Wharf? I would like to send money(US Dollars) to the office or person so they can mail them to me here in Ossining, NY. Many Thanks, Armine.
