With spectacular ocean views, pink sandy beaches, breathtaking marine life, scenic parks and lush gardens, wonderful people and culture, Bermuda is tailor-made for a unique honeymoon experience or anniversary celebration. Many honeymooners comeback to Bermuda for their anniversaries, some do it repeatedly. Mark Twain said on Bermuda - "The spirit of the place is serenity, repose, contentment, tranquility".

Summer or the beach season in Bermuda is May through October and is most popular with visitors. The daytime temperature remains in the mid-80s and evening temperature in the 70s. During November through March, the temperature ranges mostly between 60s and 70s.

    Activities during Honeymoon

If you are outdoor enthusiasts, then your options in the island are plenty.

Rent a small boat like a Boston Whaler and explore Castle Harbor and the many islands on it, or go into the western waters, park your boat by an island beach and have an exclusive romantic picnic. Visit Explore on a boat to know how.

Charter a sunset and cocktail sailing cruise on a yacht, or take a snorkeling cruise to view amazing corals and marine life of the Atlantic on reefs and deep sea. Visit Charter Boats for the options.

Walk and explore the island, its landscapes, villages, coastline and nature trails. A walk along the south shore park will be unforgettable as you visit so many of the best pink sandy beaches. Railway Trail (once the railway track and now a nature trail) is one of the best ways to experience the nature, flora and fauna and north shore views of the island. Also explore the historic city of St. George which is a UNESCO world heritage site. Check out Walking Tours for full info.

If you want to go for a full or half day island sightseeing tour, then take a taxi which you can hire by the hour, or just join a group tour that takes place in privately run minibuses or vans. Check out Local Tours to find out all options.

There are many water sports (like kayaking, parasailing, paddle boarding, jet and water skiing, scuba diving etc), and other activities (like horse riding, golfing, fishing...) which you can enjoy in the island. Go through Activities for information.

    Visitors' Stories, Reviews and Comments

    Bill Ferguson (January 2014)
Namaste Raj, I am an India-phile for religion, culture, and nature and finally visited India twice recently...it was great. Now my daughter and her son-to-be fiance have booked a flight for Apr. 27-May 3 to Bermuda from Seattle and are looking at Grotto Bay...but it's too costly for them and I think it's too big and detached from island life...Am I right?

I thought perhaps they could go there the first 2-3 nights and then be close in to Hamilton and the south end beaches, like at Granaway, for the remainder. However, they are just turning 30, so I know they want something 'romantico' and still fun.

I am helping them with the lodging costs for their birthday present...so it's more about having them have a nice true 'Bermudan' time, overall. PS Coming from Seattle, so sun and beach are high on the agenda.

Appreciate any quick reply as rooms are filling fast...only one left @ Granaway, for example. "Danya-wad" [thanks in advance], Hari OM! and great travel site!, Raj. All the best and if you need info to visit Santa Fe (New Mexico), please contact me. You are always welcome here.

    Raj (bermuda-attractions.com, January 2014)
Hi Bill, Namaste, Although Grotto Bay Resort has a beach of its own, it's actually not a beach front property. This is presently the only hotel in the island which offers all inclusive package. Many come here for that. So it becomes a sort of resort stay here.

It's located at the eastern part of the island ... while not isolated, the access to other parts of the island is not probably the best. If sun and beach are top priorities, then Pompano Beach Club (in the same price category) located at Southampton would be my choice.

While Granaway is good, in Warwick parish you can also consider Watercolours in same category (nice view of the harbor and easy access to Hamilton by ferry + romantic stay). Another good option is Mazarine by the Sea in Pembroke.

Seems you've picked up Hindi quite well :) Thank you for offering information on Santa Fe.

    Lisa (January 2013)
Hi! Wow! Your website and Information are so helpful! This will be our first time coming to Bermuda, we are a newlywed couple. Can you recommend a place to stay that is affordable? I would live a kitchen so that we can cook and save some money. We really want to visit Bermuda as we have heard it is beautiful. We can visit in June or July.

I was looking at July 12-16 so 4 nights. Any recommendations you have would be really appreciated. But I am flexible. Must sees. We love learning about the culture. Please email me back at [email protected] Thank you

Hi, I have mentioned some nice budget hotels and apartments for couples in the above sections. For your requirements, take a look at Salt Kettle House, Mazarine by the Sea, Clairfont Apartments etc. While I have mentioned several ways to experience Bermuda under the menu option "Tours and Excursions", one which would best reveal the heritage, history and culture would be the Tour of St. George's Town

Christine sent this wonderful story about how skeptical she was while choosing an island destination for her honeymoon. In her profession she had traveled widely and seen it all. But her honeymoon experience in Bermuda changed her perspective as she finally found a piece of paradise. She says... "A 'jaded' airline employee finally finds paradise on Bermuda!". She keeps living with the fond and intimate memories of her honeymoon days in Bermuda, and plans to return even though her husband is no more.

We stayed at Harmony club in 1988 on our honeymoon. We loved the place and staff sooo much we went back for 12 more years. Balcony 66 was our favorite. We renewed our vows in 1998 in the gardens under the moongate - Bill and Carol

    Dolores Peterson ( Oct 2012)
We honeymooned at the Reefs in March 1978.  What a fabulous place. Spoiled us for anything else after that wonderful experience, nothing else comes close. My husband still longs for their chocolate mousse. Have always wanted to return, but never had the chance (or money). Perhaps someday soon will do so on a cruise as a retirement gift. Hope they still make that famous mousse!

    Thomas Sanders (October 2010)
Hello, I'm getting married on June 25th 2011. I'm looking to do our Honeymoon in Bermuda. It seems you know almost all there is to know about the island. So after looking on internet for a while I found this website and thought I'd try to contact you directly.

I'm looking for a good hotel/resort to stay for about a week.  I have found good deals on flights into Bermuda. If possible I'd like to keep accommodations around 4K or so including food and all. is that possible? what hotels would you recommend? thanks a lot.

    Raj (bermuda-attractions.com, October 2010)
Hi Thomas, June is a high season and the hotel rates in Bermuda are considerably higher than the off season. So if you are choosing a top luxury hotel ($$$$) like The Reefs or The Cambridge Beaches, $4K may not be enough for 7-days including food. You will probably need to budget some $5.5K. If you plan some outdoor activities, that will require additional budget. Once you decide on the hotel, give them a call and request if they can consider some discount for you for a 7-day package. Sometimes they do if they are not running full. Best wishes for a happy marriage and a great honeymoon.

    Thomas Sanders (October 2010)
Thank you for getting back to me. I have looked a lot at your website and have found it very helpful. I have even contacted several of the resorts that you suggested. The one that seemed to be the best fit was Horizons Cottage. I contacted them, but the manager informed me that they now only work with an exclusive client, and don't rent to all customers.

It seemed a very nice place. I'm not only looking for a resort. be open to a nice BnB or a cottage with a water view, and preferably a beach. I think I could pay up to about $300 or so a night w/out any meals or anything. I saw your honeymoon recommendations, but I didn't see any options in the middle price range. Are there any?

We obviously would like as much privacy as possible being on honeymoon and all, but I'm really open to ideas on this. Also, you mentioned this is a busy time, and I saw its high season, if we were to come between late June-early July, is the island extremely crowded? Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it! Talk soon!

    Raj (bermuda-attractions.com, October 2010)
Thomas, I agree that Horizons Cottages could have been a nice choice. It has been going through some redevelopment and is operating mostly on a fractional ownership basis. Another option that you can explore is the Grotto Bay Beach Resort ($$$). There are excellent ocean view rooms in cottage type lodges. They also have private beaches. Summer time (high season) rates are around $350 + taxes. So it should fit into your original budget of $4K for a week including food. The rates for the same rooms come down below $200 during low season (Nov - Mar), except for the Christmas time.

I have not included any $$ mid range hotels in my honeymoon list so far as I have not seen one to my liking. Check out the BnB Mazarine by the Sea ($). Although it does not have a sea beach, it does have nice access to waters. They have a couple of cottages as well. Accommodation is limited. So in case you like it, you will need to book well in advance. On your last question, April - October is high season in Bermuda and May - August is probably the peak time. The island would be a little crowded in some places during this time. Don't go where everyone goes and you should be fine.
